Learner Outcomes

Learners will interact with students nation/worldwide.

Learners will promote their state/nation to others.

 

Methods and Activities

Students in two classes will pick 4 places (nations or states). Each class will have 2 groups or two 'places'. The actual locations will be determined by the teachers as they should meet curriculum goals.

Each group will find 10 facts about the place they've choosen and find a way to communicate those facts without saying the name of the place. They may present their facts in any medium they choose as long as they don't 'give away' the answer.

Classes may be broken into teams (research teams or clue-generating teams as decided by teachers)

 

Materials

Students can use any combination of materials including, but not limited to:

multimedia (computer, software, etc) paper, drawings, posters to give their clues.

Students will need access to the internet and/or research materials to find the answers. The library would be a perfect place to hold this conference as everything they need will be in there.

 

Videoconference Details.

Time: Exchange will take one class period.

10 mins. intro, greeting, outline

10 mins. pose questions

25 mins. research time (library)

10 mins. answer the questions.

 

Responsibilities: Students will spend time researching both their assigned locations and spend time gaining a general knowledge of the location they expect to be guessing about. For example, if it is a state, students will spend time prior to the meeting researching states in the US.

Teachers will collaborate with selecting the locations, assigning any teams, and guiding research prior to the lesson and after.

Agenda:

Teachers will collaborate through Vicki and Laura to select 4 locations based on their curricula.

Vicki and Laura will arrange for all logistical VC connections.

Teachers will prepare their class for 2 weeks (specific research about their locations and general research)

Students will meet via VC and pose their questions

Students will answer the other class's question if they can with some time for research built in.

 

Credit:** Is credit due to another educator for some of the ideas for your project? It's good to mention this as well.

 

Feel free to include additional information required for state, national, or district lesson planning requirements.
