Methods and Activities

Students will explore the aspects of broadcasting journalism by creating their own 20 minute news show. Students will work in groups of 4 to develop one 3-5 minute news story. Each report will be introduced by the local “anchorperson.” “News producer” will oversee the entire production of the show. Topic exchange will be one of the stories. Then sharing with others through VC. Then share information about our local community including: landmarks, industry, history/points of interest, animals, and restaurants.

 

Materials

digital cameras, background set, roles such as producer, anchorperson, microphone, map for weather, laptops, markers, poster board, tape, software such as PowerPoint, Word, Internet, extension cords, extra lighting

Time: Two 20-25 minute videoconferences
