Laura HenckelGUESS & SEE WHAT I WANT TO BE!This project is designed to enhance career awareness while increasing presentation and videoconferencing skills in a fun, interactive, guessing-game format. 2nd graders select a job they want when they grow up, meet another classroom via video conference, give clues, see if connecting class can "Guess and see, what do I want to BE?" and show "answers" by sharing self-portraits of themselves on-the-job!

Pre/Post Activities:Pre Conference: Students will explore, select and illustrate a job they might want in the future. They will write three clues about their chosen occupation and practice presenting their information via videoconference. Teachers will provide varied career exploration opportunities, help students write accurate clues, present appropriate videoconferencing behaviors and establish email communication with connecting teacher. Post conference: Students will reflect on their videoconferencing experience through classroom discussion and journal writing. Students will self-evaluate their career project and their own personal videoconferencing performance. Teachers will facilitate reflection, self-evaluation, and share written feedback by email with connecting teacher and classroom.
