Project time frame

Two weeks before the conference teachers will need to get together either via vc or email prior to the project start in order to decide which rules they will cover. During the next couple of weeks, teachers should teach all the rules to their students as well as prepare

 

How to sign up

This project is open to 3rd-5th grade science classes within the district. Teachers interested in participating in the project should contact Kimberly Herbert at kherbert@lcisd.org by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2006.

 

IP or ISDN?

Only IP/H.323 schools will be allowed to participate.

 

Learner Outcomes

The student will demonstrate safe practices during field and laboratory investigations.

 

Methods and Activities

Pre-Conference Activities

 

  • Teachers will be contacted with information about their partner group
  • Teachers need to communicate before hand to discuss how to facilitate, expectations of behavior, to revise any rules, and divide them between the classes.
  • Rules will be divided between the two classes
  • Each class will have small groups develop a mystery presentation about each rule without stating it.
  • Review videoconferencing etiquette

Videoconference Details.

Time: About how much time will it take? It's probably best to keep this close to one class period.

Responsibilities: What will students do? What will teachers do?

Agenda: Who will do each part? Which site? What visuals will be used for each portion? You can copy some sample agendas from here.

Credit: Is credit due to another educator for some of the ideas for your project? It's good to mention this as well.

 

Feel free to include additional information required for state, national, or district lesson planning requirements.
